A few ways we at Faith are doing that are:
- Supporting and encouraging our adult and youth mission trips.
- Serving the Watertown Banquet each summer. Our committee and friends travel to Grace Lutheran in Watertown SD and serve a delicious meal and fellowship with 150-180 attendees. We LOVE this annual outing!
- ELCA Missionary support- we have an annual covenant of $3,500 to support our missionary Elisabeth Johnson in her service in Cameroon. Many of us have met her over the years. We now have small bright green envelopes that are found on our bulletin board by the office or on the tables at coffee hour. Please help support Elisabeth’s ministry with a monetary donation in memory or in honor of a loved one. You can bring your donations to the church office, place in the offering plate or through the Online Giving link on Faith Lutheran’s website.
- Caring Ministry- a booklet is in use and more can be found in the office. This is a ministry we look to expand over time. We need volunteers committed to visitation. We have a small contingent of ladies who are already in action visiting and bringing a small vase of flowers to cheer others! Let our committee know if you are interested
- Each Lenten season for the past 6 years, we have our Starfish collection with the theme of - we CAN change 1 life at a time! Our Faith congregation has embraced Operation Starfish (through Food for the Poor) and we have now built 11 homes for families in the Caribbean countries and all of their pictures with them standing in front of their homes, are on the wall outside of the Pastors office or view it in the online Photo Album. PLEASE check it out! It is humbling that we CAN be the difference to someone who called home a cardboard box.
- Each Thanksgiving season, we hold our annual ELCA World Hunger drive. More than 800 million people in our world today are undernourished and WE are called to respond.... and we have! By God’s grace and provision, we have been able to send anywhere from $10,000- $14,000 annually in the past 10 or so years for this most worthy cause!!! Thanks be to God that our Faith family is committed to purchasing food, water wells, animal husbandry, health clinics etc. that will help end world hunger and its root causes some day.
- Each month Sept- May, we can attend a LQP Global Mission Conference event which is hosted at churches throughout our conference and these gatherings are usually someone talking of their mission work and are always inspiring! These events are listed in the local paper and usually are the 3rd Friday morning of the month.
